Solar Technologies - Absorber

Likewise called a collector plate or a solar collector plate.

A plate with a black coating used in solar collectors that actively absorbs solar energy and produces heat from it.

The fluid (water or glycol heat transfer fluid) flowing through the copper tubes of the thermal collector receives the heat that has been collected and is then transferred to it.

The absorption-emission ratio is used to evaluate an absorber's performance.

A selective surface coating applied to the surface of an absorber may result in a ratio of 0.90 percent absorption to 0.10 percent emission, which is within the desirable range of 10 and above.

Solar Technologies - Absorbent Glass Mat

(AGM) A fiberglass mat that holds the electrolyte in place between the battery cell plates.

In contrast to conventional flooded batteries, which use liquid electrolyte, AGM batteries employ absorbent glass mats. Absorbent glass mat battery, for example.

Solar Technologies - Absorbed Light

The quantity of light that does not pass through the semiconductor material or reflect off the cell surface before being lost.

Only the photons that are absorbed produce the charge carriers, electrons, and holes.

Solar Technologies - Absorbed Glass Mat Battery

The absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery is a form of sealed lead acid (SLA) rechargeable battery that employs absorbent glass mats rather than liquid electrolyte.

Unlike the liquid electrolyte that surrounds the electrodes, a very fine fiberglass mat surrounds the electrodes.

Solar Technologies - Absorbed Glass Mat

The electrolyte is kept in an absorbed glass mat (AGM), which is placed between the battery cell plates.

Instead of the liquid electrolyte used in ordinary flooded batteries, AGM batteries employ absorbent glass mats.

Solar Technologies - Absorbance

A solar cell or module's efficiency is measured using a solar energy ratio.

It is the amount of solar radiation absorbed by a surface.

ABS Plastic

ABS plastic or  Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is a kind of plastic.

A low-cost engineering plastic (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) that belongs to the thermoplastic polymers family.

It is often used in the construction of outdoor solar lighting systems, such as garden lights or solar-powered LED lights, junction and other electrical boxes and enclosures, and solar panel mounting brackets, because to its low weight and durability to impact, sun, and moisture.

Solar Technologies - 3D Nanoscale Electrodes

Advanced nanomaterials with 3D architecture, such as carbon nanotubes, are employed in solar energy conversion and high-performance energy storage.

Abrasion is the wearing away of a surface as a consequence of friction, such as the protective cover glass of a solar panel.

Abrasion resistance is a surface's capacity to withstand abrasion while maintaining the material's original structure and appearance.

Abrasion-resistant coating is a layer put to the top protective glass sheet of a solar panel or a solar reflector to prevent the surface material from deteriorating due to scratching, rubbing, or other forms of mechanical wear.

Improved scratch resistance allows for more vigorous cleaning techniques and offers strong protection against sand and other material driven in by the wind.

Solar Technologies - 3D Architecture

A visualization technique that enables a user to build a future small or large-scale solar system in three dimensions using realistic drawings that can be readily edited and seen from various angles.

The user may get a broad picture of the complete structure as well as a more comprehensive view of intricate regions like wiring or mounting components using 3D architectural software.

Solar modules in one row may shadow solar panels in subsequent rows.

A shadow depiction for several seasons may aid in determining the proper distance between rows of solar modules, hence preventing energy losses due to shade.

When it comes to incorporating solar panels into current and new building designs, 3D architecture comes in handy.

Solar Technologies - 12-V System

An off-grid system that utilizes direct current (DC) from photovoltaic (PV) panels with a voltage of around 12 V to power camping equipment that work on the same voltage, such as lights, a water pump, a fan, a television, a coffee maker, or a microwave oven.

On an RV or a boat, modest photovoltaic systems make use of small battery banks that are connected to provide a steady 12-volt power supply for electrical equipment.
